Time for another lunch hour lecture session with Enlightening Bites! This month we will be joined by Kevin McGorty of Tall Timbers Research Station. Kevin will be stopping in to tell the history and future of Dixie Plantation. Dixie Plantation was first settled as a cotton plantation in 1819-20 by General William Bailey and his family, and originally named The Cedars. It was gifted to Tall Timbers from the Geraldine C. M. Livingston Foundation in December 2013. Tall Timbers, founded in 1958, is a world-renowned research station focusing on fire ecology and wildlife management in the Southeastern United States. As most land owned by Tall Timbers is rarely seen by the public, we will being getting an insider glimpse into Dixie. This is definitely a presentation you will not want to miss! We highly encourage you to bring your lunch. Light refreshments will be provided.
